Manager of newly-promoted QPR, Neil Warnock, has expressed his delight that his team will be playing their opening game in the Premier League at home.

The Championship winners will play Bolton Wanderers on the first day of the new season, and Warnock believes the support of their fans will give his players’ confidence a big boost.

Warnock told the club’s official website:  "It's always nice to start with a home fixture, so I'm delighted we'll be at Loftus Road on the opening weekend.

"It feels as though all the hard work we put in last season really means something now.

"Seeing the fixtures in black and white makes it seem more real."

Warnock also paid tribute to his counterpart at Bolton, Owen Coyle, who will begin his second full season as manager at the Reebok Stadium.

Warnock said:  "Owen has done an unbelievable job there.

"They've got into the Premier League and now they're fully established.

"They were very unlucky to miss out on Europe last season with their excellent run in the FA Cup.

"I don't think there are any easy games in the Premier League, but being at home on the first day is always a bonus."

Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy will apparently plead with his club to let him leave on a free transfer, with a number of Premier League clubs interested in the disillusioned Wales international, according to The Daily Mirror.

Bellamy spent most of last season on loan at Cardiff City, with the Welsh club paying half of his £90,000-a-week wages, but he is now entering the final year of his contract with his parent club.

This means that Manchester City are likely to want £4 million for a permanent transfer to the Cardiff City Stadium, ending the Welsh side’s chances of a deal for Bellamy.

However, a number of Premier League clubs are apparently interested in signing the much-travelled forward, with both Liverpool (one of his former clubs) and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly having enquiries rejected as Manchester City refused to make deals with their rivals.

Cardiff-born Bellamy began his career at Norwich City before moving to Coventry City in 2000 and Newcastle United in 2001. Then came spells at Celtic (on loan), Blackburn Rovers, Liverpool and West Ham United before former Wales boss Mark Hughes took him to Eastlands in 2009.

The Spain international made a shock £50m switch to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool in January but did not have a great start to his career in West London.

Torres only managed one goal for the Blues and struggled to strike up an understanding with fellow forward Didier Drogba.

Even his opening months of the season with Liverpool were well below his prolific best, with the rigours of the World Cup taking their toll.

"For me the past season was the worst since I arrived in England," Torres admitted.

"The injury I sustained at the end the World Cup damaged my performance and made things more complicated than at any time in my career.

"Twelve goals in all in a season is nothing for me. Never during the season did I play to 100 per cent, neither for Liverpool or Chelsea.

"So I prefer to forget what happened. But I am not sorry I signed for Chelsea. I am convinced that when the Chelsea machine is at its full rhythm we will be very difficult to beat."

And Torres remains confident that with the benefit of a full pre-season alongside Drogba, the Blues will have a strike-force to be reckoned with in the coming campaign.

He added: "I do not have problems with Drogba. Sincerely, I am very connected with Didier. He is a sensational footballer and our possible rivalry is positive for Chelsea.

"I see many goals coming and that will give us significant success. Manchester United are the champions but I insist that we are the main candidates to take their title. The only thing I desire now are victories with Chelsea."

Carlos Tevez is likely to stay at Manchester City as he seeks to bring his family over from Argentina, according to his representative.Tevez, who submitted a transfer request in December, had been expected to leave Eastlands this summer and recently told an Argentinean TV programme that he does not enjoy life in North-West England.

However, amid reports that Tevez has been told he will be allowed to return to Argentina on a free transfer if he stays another two years, agent Kia Joorabchian has now claimed the forward is hoping to resolve his personal problems and stay at Eastlands.

"I don't think speculation about Carlos leaving is fair at the moment," Joorabchian told the Daily Star Sunday. "I don't think money is a consideration. Maybe it's a case of his family coming over to him. That's something he's trying to sort out.

"I'm sure in the next week he will sort the family issue out. Once he does, he will announce it and everyone will be in a better place."

He added: "Carlos has always had a goal. The goal was that City needed to get into the Champions League and win a trophy, and they won a trophy and achieved that goal. Now that has given him a tremendous feeling. He held that trophy with a lot of pride.

"If you look at the team they are going to get stronger and stronger and, if Carlos stays, they would be my favourite to win the title. I'm sure that will be a factor in his mind and, the fact that City fans have embraced him, will count for a lot along with his great relationship with the supporters.

"I think all these factors will be positives for him to stay. Carlos has not made any decision to move. We have not asked to leave the club."

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has confirmed Barcelona have registered their interest in signing Cesc Fabregas this summer.

Barca failed in their bid to prise Fabregas away from Arsenal last year with Arsene Wenger adamant that his captain would not leave the club but, with the player having expressed a wish to return to the Camp Nou, many felt that he might depart this summer. Hill-Wood has now said that Barca have been in contact but stressed that, as yet, they have not tabled an offer.

"Yes, they have spoken to us about Cesc," he told the Sunday Mirror. "They have been in touch, but so far they have not made a bid and we do not want to let him go.

"But he comes from Barcelona so it is understandable if he wanted to go back. However, they have not made an offer so far."

Pep Guardiola is believed to be keen to sign Fabregas, but Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has warned that they will not match last year's €40 million offer. Rosell also said that, although this year's transfer budget stands at €45 million, the club may use cash from next summer's transfer kitty to increase that figure, while there are also certain to be sales, with Bojan Krkic set to leave for Roma in the coming days.

Widespread reports suggest Barca have all but agreed the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Udinese for an initial fee in the region of €28 million, while Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi's agent recently confirmed that Barca have seen a bid - reported to be worth €27 million .
